The Global New Energy Empowerment Center (GNEEC) was launched on March 13 in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District, marking a milestone in global progress toward carbon neutrality.
The center is dedicated to integrating the solar photovoltaic, energy storage, and hydrogen industries to build a unified clean energy network. Guided by its vision — "unite ecology, power the future" — the GNEEC will serve as a dual gateway for foreign new energy enterprises entering the Chinese market and for domestic firms expanding globally, while gathering the headquarters of world-leading new energy companies.
Jointly founded by industry associations and global leaders in the photovoltaic, energy storage, and hydrogen sectors, the GNEEC currently has more than 250 members. It offers a comprehensive platform for technological innovation, industrial upgrading, trade, exhibitions, international collaboration, and related services.
Yang Xubo, deputy director of the Hongqiao International CBD's administrative committee, said that Hongqiao's strategic location and global connectivity provide an ideal base for enterprises to access both Chinese and international resources.
Four key projects were unveiled at the ceremony, including research institutes, a media platform, and two white papers on advanced energy technologies.

Leveraging Hongqiao's strengths, the GNEEC aims to develop a low-carbon new energy cluster in the Yangtze River Delta region and advance the area's green development.
