Shanghai's Hongqiao International Coffee Harbor invited professionals to taste and evaluate Ethiopian coffees as a prelude to the third Hongqiao International Boutique Coffee Expo, scheduled for May 17-20.
The 2026 TOH Ethiopia Origin Summit and 100-Cuppers Event, held on March 29, drew African coffee enthusiasts and industry professionals to explore new opportunities for Sino-African cooperation.
Notably, Gilbert Gatali, chairman of the African Fine Coffees Association, attended the event in person, inviting guests to explore the rich heritage of African coffee firsthand.
The event aims to enhance connections between coffee producers and the market. Key speeches emphasized the importance of strengthening trade ties with African coffee producers.
During the award-winning bean tasting event, guests sampled over 40 award-winning Ethiopian coffees, experiencing diverse flavors from washed, sun-dried, honey-processed and experimental beans. The event highlighted the quality and innovation in African coffee production.
The afternoon session allowed guests to engage directly with Ethiopian exporters, fostering new business opportunities. Many attendees reached cooperation agreements, underscoring the event's role in bridging the gap between origin and market.
