The Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and the Hongqiao International Central Business District Administrative Commission have jointly launched a new initiative to strengthen cooperation between international institutions and companies seeking overseas opportunities.
As part of this empowerment initiative, a promotion event was held at the Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center on June 16, bringing together nearly 30 representatives from overseas economic and trade organizations based in Shanghai.
Fang Xiao, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, said overseas economic and trade organizations in Shanghai serve as important bridges connecting the city with the world. He noted that the event marked the first on-the-ground activity under the city's new enterprise support brand aimed at helping companies expand globally.
Yang Xubo, deputy director of the Hongqiao International Central Business District Administrative Commission, highlighted the district's strategic advantages and policy support. He said Hongqiao is accelerating the development of platforms such as the Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center, positioning it as the first stop for Yangtze River Delta enterprises going global.
Representatives from Canada, the United States, Germany, Romania, and Hong Kong exchanged views on cooperation in sectors including new energy, catering and medical devices, and expressed interest in strengthening ties with Hongqiao.
Before the event, participants visited several service platforms in the district to better understand support mechanisms for overseas business expansion and international talent development.
