Chen Wenjie, technical director at clean energy conversion technology company Sungrow, said the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District has provided strong support for technological innovation and talent development in the fast-growing new energy sector.
Chen, an expert in power electronics with nine years of industry experience, joined Sungrow in 2018 after earning a doctorate from Zhejiang University and gaining experience in electric vehicle technologies at a German company.
Since joining the company, he has led the development of several products, including high-performance electric drive controllers and high-efficiency energy storage systems. He currently oversees the commercialization of new technologies for power converters and AI data center power supplies.
According to Chen, the application of third-generation semiconductor technology has become a major focus of his work. The technology enables power electronic devices to achieve higher power density, improved efficiency, and faster response, helping customers achieve greater energy yields and more intelligent control.
Chen believes Hongqiao's advantages have played an important role in supporting innovation. The district's convenient transport links, including high-speed rail and airport, make it easier to connect with global customers and partners.
He also highlighted the area's strong industrial ecosystem and international platforms, such as the China International Import Expo, which provide access to the latest technologies and resources.
Looking ahead, Chen hopes to leverage Hongqiao's innovation ecosystem and talent policies to accelerate the practical application of cutting-edge technologies, create greater value for customers, and contribute to the development of the new energy industry.
