In the first half of this year, Shanghai's Hongqiao International Central Business District focused on stabilizing growth and building momentum for high-quality development, further strengthening its international appeal and competitiveness while achieving robust economic growth.

The district's tax revenue reached 29.54 billion yuan ($4.4 billion), marking a 14.9 percent year-on-year increase.

Sales of goods by enterprises above the designated size totaled 309.47 billion yuan, up 17.6 percent year-on-year.

In China's statistical system, enterprises above the designated size refer to wholesale companies with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan and retail companies with annual revenue of at least 5 million yuan. Retail sales of consumer goods by these enterprises reached 37.45 billion yuan, up 16.3 percent and 15.6 percentage points higher than the city average.

Revenue from service industries above the designated size increased by 11.6 percent to around 181.8 billion yuan, exceeding the city average by 2.4 percent.

Foreign investment and trade have seen significant growth, with actual foreign investment reaching $577 million, up 212.7 percent year-on-year. The volume of imports and exports reached more than 60 billion yuan, up 31 percent year-on-year.

A total of 582 key industry and investment projects with registered capital exceeding 10 million yuan have been introduced, with a total contracted investment amount of more than 30.2 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 25 percent.

Hongqiao CBD has added 15 new municipal-level headquarters enterprises, bringing the total to 298. It is home to over 107,200 enterprises to date.

Looking ahead, Hongqiao CBD aims to enhance its international hub capabilities further, accelerate the development of a manufacturing R&D cluster in the Yangtze River Delta, and serve as the primary gateway for enterprises venturing abroad, contributing to Shanghai's high-quality development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30).
