The Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport upgraded its "E-Security Passage" service on Sept 1, introducing a dedicated service zone, extended hours and upgraded smart equipment to make security screening faster and more convenient for passengers.

At Terminal 2, the service has expanded from two individual lanes to a dedicated zone covering lanes 26-29. The number of operating lanes can be adjusted according to passenger flows. Service hours have also been extended from 5:30 am-8 pm to match the day's departing flight schedule.

The upgraded zone features smart screening equipment, including millimeter-wave security gates, CT scanners and an automated tray return system. Passengers only need to remove items such as power banks and liquids, without taking out laptops and other electronic devices separately.

To help passengers use the service, Hongqiao Airport has added signs at Terminal 2 entrances, check-in counters and security screening areas. Staff are also available to assist with registration and provide on-site guidance.

The service is voluntary. Passengers can complete real-name verification through the Civil Aviation Public Security Service mini-program on Alipay or WeChat and make a reservation within 48 hours before departure, or register at the airport.
