The 13th Shanghai Supply Chain Development Conference opened in the Hongqiao International Central Business District on Oct 23, bringing together more than 350 representatives from academia, think tanks and leading companies to discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming supply chain management.
Hosted by the Shanghai Supply Chain Promotion Association, the conference focused on digitalization, low-carbon development, international collaboration, and supply chain security and resilience. Discussions covered AI-powered risk management, smart logistics, global supply chain shifts and strategies for expanding overseas.
Three industry publications were released at the event, including the Shanghai Supply Chain Development Report (2026) and a collection of 21 companies' digital-intelligent supply chain practices, as well as a compilation featuring 20 modern commercial distribution pilot projects.
The Qingpu District Commission of Commerce also unveiled an action plan to integrate AI into logistics and supply chains. By 2027, the district aims to cut scheduling and operational costs by 30 percent, reduce labor costs per order by 5 percent, halve container inspection time and introduce intelligent screening for all cross-border parcels.
Shanghai has designated Hongqiao as its first Global Supply Chain Management Center Cluster. Through the Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center and Hongqiao International Data Center, the area provides support for cross-border data flows, green supply chains, overseas warehousing and international expansion, helping companies strengthen their global operations.
