The Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District (CBD), often the first stop for new arrivals in the city, is quickly becoming a favorite among tourists with its mix of culture, shopping, and fun activities.

The HUB in the CBD is a must-visit commercial complex for shopaholics as it is home to the first stores of many Chinese and international brands. In 2024 alone, The HUB introduced 52 first stores from new brands, accounting for 40 percent of all new openings.

One of the coolest attractions at The HUB is the world's largest second-hand luxury goods warehouse, which is a big hit with young tourists from South Korea.

Hongqiao's rise as a commercial hub has brought in a slew of culture, sports and exhibition events, attracting visitors from nearby areas.

Its bread festival saw 120,000 visitors and 70,000 loaves of bread sold in a single day. Nearly 30 percent of visitors traveled from other cities specifically for the event.

In 2024, the Hongqiao Transportation Hub's passenger flow hit a record 4.38 billion, making it the busiest gateway in Shanghai.

Plans were recently announced to create a "digital nomad community" in Hongqiao, aimed at people who work while traveling – a growing trend in China.
