As an important component of the China International Import Expo and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, the 2026 CIIE Shanghai Events and Conferences will be held in Shanghai in November, with applications now open.

1. Purpose

The events are positioned around three core objectives: serving national strategies, focusing on frontier economic and trade issues, and supporting Shanghai's development. They will continue to leverage and amplify the four core functions of the CIIE platform: international procurement, investment promotion, cultural exchanges, and open cooperation.

This year's events will see comprehensive upgrades in level and scale, thematic depth, platform functions, and professional standards. The goal is to create a first-class international exchange platform for forward-looking discussions on important issues, the release and implementation of policy outcomes, and the efficient matching of global resources.

2. Eligible applicants

Relevant government departments at all levels, international organizations, national and local industry organizations, chambers of commerce and industry associations, leading Chinese and foreign enterprises, industry leaders, universities and research institutions, think tanks, and other entities capable of organizing conferences and seminars are welcome to apply.

3. Requirements

• Content focus: Activities should focus on the following six key areas: China's opening-up and Shanghai's practices, enterprises' overseas expansion and comprehensive overseas services, new drivers of trade growth, ESG and sustainable development, the building of a consumer innovation ecosystem, and the use of artificial intelligence to empower industrial development.

• Format requirements: Activities should follow the principles of focused topics, small scale, and targeted discussions, and prioritize high-end closed-door meetings, industry roundtables, themed seminars, and other meaningful events with approximately 20 to 50 participants. They should strengthen in-depth dialogue between government and enterprises and promote targeted industrial matchmaking.

• Outcome orientation: Each activity should clearly specify its expected outcomes, which may include policy recommendation reports, industry blue books, project cooperation agreements, industry standard initiatives, and practical guidelines.

4. Application method
