Life sciences company Cytori will establish its global headquarters in Shanghai's North Hongqiao Business District following a signing ceremony held on June 30.
Located in Jiangqiao town, Jiading district, the project involves a total investment of more than 500 million yuan (about $70 million).
The headquarters will oversee the company's global strategy, research and development, international marketing, capital operations, and high-end manufacturing.
Cytori focuses on regenerative medicine using adipose (fat) tissue. The company owns the global intellectual property and technology assets of the Celution regenerative medicine platform developed by US-based Cytori Therapeutics. Its automated tissue-processing technology has been used at leading hospitals, including the Mayo Clinic in the United States and Huashan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University.
Ma Xudong, CEO of Cytori, said the company will continue expanding its regenerative medicine research, accelerate localized production, and develop new treatments to benefit more patients.
Jiading is accelerating the growth of its biopharmaceutical industry. The company chose North Hongqiao for its strategic location and strong support for innovation and business development. Local authorities will provide services including talent support, research facilities, and space for future expansion.
