Juneyao Airlines has begun a trial of a new two-step self-service check-in system at Terminal 2 of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, making the check-in process faster and more convenient.
The new service differentiates check-in from baggage drop. Passengers without checked luggage can self-check-in, receive their boarding pass, and proceed directly to security. Those with checked baggage complete check-in first and then use a self-service baggage drop.
The airline says experienced travelers can complete check-in in about a minute. The new process is designed to reduce wait times and ease congestion during busy travel periods.
The trial comes as China's aviation industry continues to expand its smart airport services, such as self-service baggage handling and baggage tracking. As passenger numbers continue to grow, airlines are increasingly focused on improving service quality and travel efficiency.
Juneyao Airlines is the first carrier at Hongqiao Airport's Terminal 2 to introduce a two-step self-service check-in system. The airline says the new service reflects its commitment to improving the passenger experience through innovation and technology and to supporting Shanghai's efforts to build a more efficient international aviation hub.
