A workshop on new energy and sustainable procurement by the United Nations and international organizations was held at the Global New Energy Empowerment Center in Shanghai's Hongqiao International Central Business District on July 16.
The event brought together government officials, industry experts, and new energy companies to explore how Chinese businesses can enter the UN procurement market and expand overseas.
A key highlight was the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between GNEEC and the Office for Information Sharing and Capacity Building on Sustainable Procurement Services for the United Nations and International Organizations.
The partnership combines GNEEC's strengths in the new energy industry with the UN procurement office's expertise in international purchasing rules, supplier requirements, and global bidding opportunities. It aims to help Chinese companies connect with international public procurement and reach more global markets.
During the workshop, experts shared practical advice on participating in UN projects. Using a UNICEF solar project as an example, they explained the full process, from project planning and bidding to contract delivery.
Company representatives also discussed topics including UN supplier standards, ESG practices, green supply chains, and international product compliance.
With growing global demand for low-carbon solutions, the UN and other international organizations continue to purchase products such as solar panels, energy storage systems, and off-grid power equipment.
Hongqiao International CBD will continue supporting the partnership by providing business matchmaking, compliance guidance, and training services, helping more Chinese new energy companies join the UN's global supply chain and expand into overseas markets.
