Shanghai's Longfor Hongqiao Paradise Walk added two new "slow pop-up" stores to its outdoor Tianjieli street during the Tianjieli Cheers Festival, offering visitors a more relaxed way to enjoy the city's summer nights.

Unlike traditional short-term pop-up stores, the two "slow pop-ups" are designed to stay longer and encourage people to slow down.

One is Jo's Choice, a cocktail stand. It welcomes visitors with drinks and interactive activities such as a "blind tasting" game, where customers draw a card to receive a surprise alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink. The founder said the goal is to create a memorable first impression and share a sense of relaxation rather than sell beverages.

Yun Fufu, located across the street, focuses on low-alcohol fruit wines favored by young women and provides a cozy environment for guests to relax with a drink.

Running through Aug 31, the Tianjieli Cheers Festival also extends the operating hours of shops and restaurants to encourage the nighttime economy.

The refreshed street now features colorful decorations, shaded seating areas, photo spots and a new walking map that helps visitors explore, shop and relax.

According to the mall, this reflects a growing trend in Shanghai's night economy, as visitors increasingly seek immersive, comfortable experiences rather than shopping alone. By creating warmer, more welcoming public spaces, Tianjieli aims to become a lively destination for summer evenings.
