The Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District has launched a new policy that simplifies the process for recent foreign graduates who want to work in Shanghai.
The initiative is designed to be especially beneficial for those from top international universities.
Previously, foreign graduates faced challenges due to national regulations that required both a bachelor's degree and two years of relevant work experience to work in Shanghai.
This often prevented talented people from prestigious international institutions from pursuing careers in the city.
The new policy from the CBD offers a direct work permit application process for these foreign students who have graduated within the last two years, eliminating the work experience barrier. It specifically targets:
- Foreign graduates who have earned a bachelor's degree or higher from universities in Shanghai and who wish to work in the CBD.
- Outstanding graduates from internationally recognized universities aiming to work at the regional headquarters of multinational companies, investment firms, or foreign R&D centers in the CBD.
Eligibility is based on university rankings as published by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs' "Management and Service System of Foreigners Working in China".
