Johnson Controls — a global leader in smart and sustainable building solutions — celebrated the 140th anniversary of its establishment and the 30th anniversary of its entry into the Chinese market recently.

It did so by staging a special exhibition at its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai's Hongqiao International Central Business District.

The exhibition depicted the company's rich history, innovative patents and cutting-edge solutions that have shaped the building industry.

It included interactive 3D displays, a historical timeline and sections dedicated to the company's global patents and industry solutions. The display highlighted Johnson Controls' role in advancing building automation technology.

The group's technology is integral to iconic structures worldwide, such as Shanghai's tallest skyscrapers and the Channel Tunnel where it provides efficient cooling and ventilation systems.

"Innovation is in our DNA," said Anu Rathninde, president of Johnson Controls Asia-Pacific.

"For 140 years, we've pushed the boundaries of what's possible, redefining the future of buildings," Rathninde said.

"We're committed to driving the transformation toward intelligent, sustainable cities," he added.

Celebrating 30 years in China, Johnson Controls has shifted from a "for China" to an "in China" approach — with more products now developed and manufactured locally.

Moving forward, plans are for Johnson Controls to focus on energy-efficient building retrofits and smart system upgrades, aligning with China's low-carbon strategy.

"We're committed to deepening our presence in China and contributing to the development of smart, sustainable cities," Rathninde declared.
